Defragment your drive (HDD only): Highly compressed files are scattered. If you use an old HDD, run a defrag after extraction. SSDs ignore this.
Increase the "Cache Size" in Warband launcher: Go to Configure > Advanced and set "Render Buffer Size" to 128MB or 256MB. This compensates for the compressed texture read speeds.
