Wonderware InTouch 10.5 — Overview and Guide
4. Performance Benchmarks
- Supported tag count: 64,000+ with adequate hardware (tested with 32 GB RAM, 3 GHz CPU).
- Scan time: Minimum 20–50 ms for I/O scanning (depends on I/O server load).
- Alarm throughput: ~200 alarms/sec sustained, bursts up to 500/sec.
2. The "Platform" Architecture
- InTouch 10.5 was the bridge between the old standalone versions and the new Archestra System Platform.
- If you are using 10.5 purely as InTouch (Standalone), you ignore the "Archestra IDE".
- If you are using "System Platform," you would use the IDE to deploy to the InTouch runtime.
3. Scripting Housekeeping
Open your 10.5 app in WindowMaker. Go to Special > Scripts.
- Application On-Shutdown: Are you writing to the registry? Modern Windows blocks this.
- Data Change Scripts: Replace heavy looping scripts with condition scripts.

- Use VMware vCenter Converter to P2V (Physical to Virtual) the old XP/7 machine.
- Run the VM on a modern ESXi host.
- Result: Your 105 application runs perfectly inside a virtual bubble on new hardware. Risk: You retain all old bugs and security issues.
