Installation steps:

  1. Uninstall any existing Prolific driver: In Device Manager, right-click the device > Uninstall device > Check “Delete the driver software for this device”.
  2. Download PL-2303 Driver v3.3.2.105 (search for “Prolific 3.3.2.105 driver” from a reputable archive like DriverGuide or Prolific’s legacy section).
  3. Extract the files. Inside, you will find PL2303_64bit_Installer.exe (for 64-bit Windows 10).
  4. IMPORTANT: Run the installer as Administrator.
  5. Reboot your PC.
  6. Plug in the GEV189 cable. It should now be recognized as Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COMx).
