3) Disable driver signature enforcement (if installer is unsigned)

- Settings → Update & Security → Recovery → Restart now (under Advanced startup).
- Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Settings → Restart.

Step 4: Verify the COM Port

Installation steps:
- Uninstall any existing Prolific driver: In Device Manager, right-click the device > Uninstall device > Check “Delete the driver software for this device”.
- Download PL-2303 Driver v3.3.2.105 (search for “Prolific 3.3.2.105 driver” from a reputable archive like DriverGuide or Prolific’s legacy section).
- Extract the files. Inside, you will find
PL2303_64bit_Installer.exe (for 64-bit Windows 10).
- IMPORTANT: Run the installer as Administrator.
- Reboot your PC.
- Plug in the GEV189 cable. It should now be recognized as
Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COMx).
If you still see a yellow bang, proceed to Method 4.
