Total Commander 10.52 — Practical Guide for wincmd.key (Keyboard Shortcuts and Keymap)
2. The Author’s Fair Shareware Model
Christian Ghisler has one of the most generous licensing models in software:
- Try before you buy – The 30-day trial is honor-based; the program never stops working, even after decades.
- Lifetime updates within a major version – A license for version 10.x works for all 10.x releases (10.52 included).
- One license covers many uses – You can use your personal key on your work PC, home laptop, and even a USB drive.
Legal and ethical considerations
- Using a Wincmd.key you did not purchase or obtain from the vendor amounts to software piracy and may be illegal in many jurisdictions.
- Respect the software license: purchase a legitimate license from the author (Christian Ghisler / Ghisler Software) to support development and receive updates and support.
3. Directory Hotlist (Ctrl+D)
This is one of the most underrated features. Populate a list of frequently accessed folders; registered users can sync this list across PCs via the cloud. Total Commander 10.52 Wincmd.key
