Sss6698bb Format Tool -
Comprehensive Guide: SSS6698-BB Format Tool
Step 1: Identify the Drive and Controller (Double-Check)
Even if you think it's an SSS6698BB, verify using ChipGenius (Windows) or lsusb (Linux). This tool will show:
- Controller Vendor: Skymedi
- Controller Part-No: SSS6698BB
- Flash ID: (e.g., 0x2C, 0x64 – important for later)
Step 3: Settings Configuration (The Critical Part)
- Click the Setting button (or password icon). The password is usually blank or
320or1111. Try blank first. - Go to the Capacity tab:
- Check Auto Detect for NAND.
- Or, manually set to
16GBif your drive was 16GB.
- Go to the Format tab:
- Low Level Format: CHECK this box.
- File System: FAT32 (for compatibility) or NTFS (for large files).
- Volume Label: Give it a name.
- Go to the Firmware tab:
- Ensure the tool has pre-loaded the correct ISP (Initial Startup Program). If the field is empty, this is the wrong tool version for your specific NAND chip.
If drive is still dead:
- Controller chip may be physically damaged. No software will recover it.
- Some SSS6698-BB drives have short-pin recovery (short two specific NAND pins to enter factory mode). This is advanced – search for "SSS6698-BB short pin recovery" if you are experienced with electronics.
