Sniper Elite 3 is a game best experienced with full immersion. Whether you are trying to enjoy the gritty North African campaign in your native tongue, or you want to switch the enemy dialogue to German for that authentic "behind enemy lines" feel, adjusting the language settings can make or break the experience.
However, many players find themselves confused when the in-game menu doesn't offer the options they expect, or when the game defaults to a language they don't understand.
In this Extra Quality Guide, we will walk you through every method to change the language in Sniper Elite 3, covering Steam, GOG, and manual file editing.
If you have followed the steps but the audio still sounds like a tin can telephone, check these three "Extra Quality" killers:
\Sniper Elite 3\bin\ or \data\..ini or .cfg file (e.g., language.ini, engine.ini).Language=EN → Language=FR (or DE, ES, RU, IT, PL).| Language | Text | Full Audio | |----------|------|-------------| | English | ✅ | ✅ | | French | ✅ | ✅ | | German | ✅ | ✅ | | Spanish | ✅ | ✅ (Spain) | | Russian | ✅ | ✅ | | Italian | ✅ | ✅ | | Polish | ✅ | ❌ (subtitles only) |
Polish has UI/text in high quality, but voice stays English unless modded.
If subtitles show TEXT_MISSION_01 instead of actual words, the font cache is broken.
Fix: Delete FontCache.bin in the CookedPC folder. The game will rebuild it at higher resolution.
For console users, "extra quality" means avoiding the default system language override.
Sniper Elite 3 does not have an internal language switcher. It reads your console’s OS language.
