Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite Smt116 Custom Rom 2021 -
Breathing New Life into a Classic: The Ultimate Guide to Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (SM-T116) Custom ROMs in 2021
Published: Retro Tech & Development Archive / 2021 Retrospective
3.3 AOSP 7.1.2 (Pure Android)
- Status: Lightweight, minimal modifications.
- Features: No Google Apps (microG recommended), stripped for speed.
- Performance: Fastest among 7.1.2 ROMs but missing many features.
2. crDroid Android 6.0 (Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow)
- Status: Unofficial / Beta
- Android Version: 6.0.1 (API 23)
- Why it’s great: crDroid offers extreme customization (status bar mods, animations, gestures) that LineageOS lacks.
- Trade-off: It is slightly heavier than LineageOS 14.1. You will feel lag when opening the recents menu.
- Verdict: Only for tinkerers. For 99% of users, LineageOS 14.1 is the superior 2021 choice.
Caution: There is NO stable Android 8.0 (Oreo), 9.0 (Pie), or 10.0 (Q) for the SM-T116 in 2021. Any claims of such are either fake or unbootable test builds. The aging Spreadtrum SC8830 CPU simply lacks kernel support for higher Android versions.
App replacements (modern apps won't install):
| Modern App | 4.4.4 Alternative | |------------|-------------------| | YouTube | NewPipe (old version 0.21.13 works on KitKat) or SkyTube Legacy | | Chrome | Opera Mini (extreme data saver) or Via Browser (tiny & fast) | | Spotify | Spotify Lite (last KitKat version – search APKMirror) | | Maps | Maps.me (older version) or OsmAnd (very slow) | | Reddit | Reddit is Fun (old version) or Slide for Reddit (legacy) | | File manager | MiXplorer (still supports KitKat) | samsung galaxy tab 3 lite smt116 custom rom 2021
