MOTOTRBO CPS 2.0 (Customer Programming Software) is the essential utility used to configure, manage, and maintain the Motorola Solutions line of MOTOTRBO digital two-way radios. It serves as the interface between a computer and the radio’s internal logic, allowing fleet managers and technicians to customize device behavior to suit specific operational needs.

Step 2: Reading the Radio

1. Connect your USB cable to the radio and PC.
2. Turn the radio ON.
3. In CPS 2.0, click the Read button (Orange down-arrow) on the Home ribbon.
4. A dialog will show the radio model and firmware. Click OK.
5. Crucial: Save the original codeplug with a recognizable name (e.g., SERIAL_12345_Backup_2024.dat). If you brick the radio, this file saves you.

The 90-Day Trap

The USB Driver Nightmare
