MOTOTRBO CPS 2.0: The Evolution of Digital Radio Programming
MOTOTRBO CPS 2.0 (Customer Programming Software) is the essential utility used to configure, manage, and maintain the Motorola Solutions line of MOTOTRBO digital two-way radios. It serves as the interface between a computer and the radio’s internal logic, allowing fleet managers and technicians to customize device behavior to suit specific operational needs.
Step 2: Reading the Radio
- Connect your USB cable to the radio and PC.
- Turn the radio ON.
- In CPS 2.0, click the Read button (Orange down-arrow) on the Home ribbon.
- A dialog will show the radio model and firmware. Click OK.
- Crucial: Save the original codeplug with a recognizable name (e.g.,
SERIAL_12345_Backup_2024.dat). If you brick the radio, this file saves you.
The 90-Day Trap
When you buy a new radio (e.g., an XPR 7550e), it comes with a temporary 90-day entitlement for CPS 2.0. Once that expires, you cannot read or write to the radio using the generic software unless you buy a permanent or annual subscription. Motorola Mototrbo Cps 2.0 Programming Software
The USB Driver Nightmare
You must install the Motorola USB Win driver correctly. If you plug the radio in via the programming cable (usually a USB to 2.5mm/3.5mm TRS cable) before installing the driver, Windows often assigns the wrong generic driver. You will get a "Device not migrated" error. MOTOTRBO CPS 2
Fix: Unplug the radio, uninstall the driver via Device Manager, reboot, install the Motorola driver pack, then plug the radio in. Connect your USB cable to the radio and PC
