4chan X is a script that adds various features to anonymous imageboards. It was originally developed for 4chan but has no affiliation with it.
It was previously developed by aeosynth, Mayhem, ihavenoface, Zixaphir, Seaweed, and Spittie, with contributions from many others.
If you're looking for a maintained fork of OneeChan (a style script used in addition to 4chan X), try https://github.com/KevinParnell/OneeChan.
Uninstalling: 4chan X disables the native extension, so if you uninstall 4chan X, you'll need to re-enable it. To do this, click the [Settings] link in the top right corner, uncheck "Disable the native extension" in the panel that appears, and click the "Save Settings" button. If you don't see a "Save Settings" button, it may be being hidden by your ad blocker.
Private browsing: By default, 4chan X remembers your last read post in a thread and which posts were made by you, even if you are in private browsing / incognito mode. If you want to turn this off, uncheck the Remember Last Read Post and Remember Your Posts options in the settings panel. You can clear all 4chan browsing history saved by 4chan X by resetting your settings.
Use of the "Link Title" feature to fetch titles of Youtube links is subject to Youtube's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. For more details on what information is sent to Youtube and other sites, and how to turn it off if you don't want the feature, see 4chan X's privacy documentation.
Install Violentmonkey, Tampermonkey, or Greasemonkey (issues since v4: #2526, #2576), then click here to install 4chan X.
Ports of Greasemonkey are available for SeaMonkey and Pale Moon.
Userscript: Install Violentmonkey or Tampermonkey, then click here to install 4chan X.
Chrome extension: 4chan X is also available as a standalone Chrome extension. The Chrome extension has the additional feature of being able to sync your settings and data with other devices via Chrome Sync. But there is an issue when the script updates: Whenever the Chrome extension is updated, until you hard refresh (F5) the tab, 4chan X is unable to save any data (such as posts marked as yours and settings changes). The userscript version above does not have this problem when 4chan X updates, only when Violentmonkey / Tampermonkey is updated. To install as a Chrome extension:
chrome://extensions and drag the downloaded file onto the page. Alternatively, you can install 4chan X from the Chrome store.Note: This version of 4chan X does not work with Opera 12. If you need Opera 12 support, try loadletter's fork instead.
Install the Userscripts extension. Enable it by pressing ⌘,, navigating to the extensions pane and checking Userscripts checkbox. Now open the Userscripts editor by clicking on the </> button in the taskbar. Then click on the + button and select the New Javascript option. Replace the default text with the contents of the 4chan X script. Finally save it by pressing ⌘s.
Official Microsoft documentation states that Microsoft Office 2013 cannot be run directly from a memory stick
. While "portable" versions are often found on third-party sites, these are unauthorized modifications that carry significant security risks. The recommended way to work "portably" with Office 2013 is through its SkyDrive (now OneDrive) cloud integration or the Office 365 Web Apps Tabush Group Portable Work Strategies Web-Based Apps

To run Office 2013 (even if accessed via a "Click-to-Run" installation on a local drive), the following standard system requirements must be met: How to get Microsoft Office for FREE on iPhone & Android
There is no official "Portable" version of Microsoft Office 2013 released by Microsoft. While unofficial or "cracked" versions labeled as portable often circulate online, they typically violate Microsoft Software License Agreements, which prohibit virtualizing features separately or copying the software without permission.
Instead, Microsoft addressed the need for "portability" in 2013 through cloud integration, mobile apps, and touch-optimized interfaces. Core Portability Features
Rather than a single executable file, Office 2013 achieved mobile productivity through: microsoft office 2013 portable work
Cloud Integration (OneDrive/SkyDrive): This was the first version designed to save files to the cloud by default, allowing users to access and sync documents across different devices.
Office Web Apps: Users could log into a computer without Office installed and use browser-based components to access, edit, and share documents.
Touch-Optimized Design: The interface was redesigned for tablets (specifically Windows RT and Surface devices) with a "Touch Mode" that increased button spacing and added radial menus for easier finger navigation.
Bookmark Syncing: Word and PowerPoint introduced a feature that remembered your last viewed or edited location and synced it across different computers. Licensing & Use Rights
The licensing for Office 2013 was notably more restrictive than previous versions:
Microsoft Office 2013 Review: Productivity Suite for Agencies
While Microsoft never released an official "portable" version of Office 2013, the suite was a landmark for portable work
because it was the first version deeply integrated with the cloud. This shift allowed users to move between devices seamlessly, making your "office" portable even if the software was installed traditionally. Portable Work Features in Office 2013 SkyDrive (now OneDrive) Integration

For writing papers, Office 2013 introduced several tools that improved the research and drafting process: Resume Reading

: You could search for and embed online media directly within Word without leaving the application. Mendeley Integration : For researchers, plugins like

Microsoft Office 2013 Portable, a virtualized version of the suite designed to run from USB drives without installation, offers high mobility but poses significant security risks as it has reached end-of-support status. While providing portability, these unofficial, often modified versions lack updates, creating vulnerabilities to malware and potential licensing violations. Secure alternatives, such as Microsoft Office Online or official portable suites like LibreOffice, are recommended over using outdated, third-party repacks. Legal and licensing considerations
Cause: Your portable tool didn't capture the licensing service. Fix: Switch to the Windows To Go method.
Office 2013 creates a massive "MsoCache" folder on the C: drive. To keep your USB drive clean, you must:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\.CacheLocation pointing to a folder on your USB drive (e.g., X:\OfficeCache).Microsoft Office 2013 is a suite of productivity applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access, Publisher). A "portable" version typically means a copy packaged to run without traditional installation — often from a USB drive — leaving little or no changes on the host PC.
In software terms, "portable" does not refer to mobile devices like phones or tablets. Instead, it refers to a version of a program that requires no installation. A standard software installation scatters files across system folders, modifies the registry, and creates dependencies that tie the software to that specific computer.
A portable application is self-contained. It creates a single folder (or a few files) that can sit on a USB flash drive. You plug the drive into any Windows computer, click the executable file, and the program launches. When you unplug the drive, no trace is left on the host computer.
If you need a portable office solution, consider these legal and safer alternatives:
Before we dissect Office 2013, we must understand the portable software paradigm. Standard software installs itself deep within your computer’s registry and system folders (like Program Files and AppData). It leaves digital footprints, creates file associations, and requires administrative privileges to run.
A portable application, conversely, is packaged to run in isolation. All its settings, caches, and temporary files are stored within the same folder as the executable file. When you unplug the USB drive, no trace of the software remains on the host computer.
Microsoft Office 2013 Portable Work, therefore, refers to the ability to launch Microsoft Word 2013, Excel 2013, or PowerPoint 2013 from a removable drive on any Windows computer without performing a formal installation.

4chan X can be used in some browsers that do not support userscripts using a local proxy. Not all features will work.
