No Clip Achievement: Repeatedly place ender beads into the character's stomach (not other areas) to trigger the respawn mechanic required for this achievement.
Character Unlocks: Some skins and items are tied to specific packages, such as the China delivery package. Step 3: The Observer Trigger (The Genius Part)
Step 3: The Observer Trigger (The Genius Part)
This trap activates when a player steps off a specific block – not onto it.
- Place a target block at ground level, 2 blocks away from the trap edge.
- Behind it, place an observer facing the target block.
- Connect the observer’s output to your redstone line.
Why? When a player steps on the target block, nothing happens. When they step off toward the trap, the observer detects the block update and fires the pistons. Perfect psychology.
Step 2: The Piston Matrix
At level 3 (three blocks above the pit floor), place your 6 sticky pistons facing up. Arrange them so they cover the outer ring of your 3x3 area. Leave the very center block empty—that’s where the victim’s momentum will carry them.
Attach Honey Blocks to the face of each sticky piston. Why honey? Unlike slime, honey does not transfer a Redstone signal, but it does stick to other honey blocks. This creates a seamless false floor that moves as one unit.
Materials Needed
Gather these before we start:
- 6 Sticky Pistons
- 1 Observer
- 2 Repeaters
- 4 Redstone Comparators (optional for extension)
- 16 Redstone Dust
- 8 Solid blocks (your floor material)
- 1 Target Block
- 1 Lever (for testing – remove later)
The Build:
Step 1: The Pit Dig a 2x2 hole where you want the trap to be. Dig down at least 4 blocks (deeper if you want to ensure fatal fall damage). Place blocks at the bottom to deny the victim a water bucket landing, or fill it with lava/pointed dripstone for extra lethality.
Step 2: The Piston Base At the floor level of your room, place 2 Sticky Pistons facing upward on one side of the hole, and 2 Sticky Pistons facing upward on the other side. These will hold the fake floor.
Step 3: The Power Circuit This is where the 3.0 magic happens.
- Behind the pistons, dig a 1-block deep trench.
- Place Redstone Dust connecting all four pistons to a central point.
- Place an Observer facing toward the piston circuit. This observer will detect the change in the pressure plate state.
Step 4: The Trigger
- Place your Pressure Plate on the block directly above the Observer (or connect it via redstone dust to the observer’s input side).
- Place a Redstone Repeater leading from the observer into the piston line. Set this repeater to 2 ticks. This tiny delay ensures the pistons retract and extend in the correct order to "swallow" the player.
Step 5: The Camouflage Place your flooring blocks on top of the sticky pistons. The trap is now armed. When a player steps on the plate, the circuit pulses, the pistons retract the floor instantly, and then extend back, resetting the trap for the next victim.
Step-by-Step Build Guide: The Classic 2x2 Floor Trap
This is the most common configuration of the Lovely Craft Piston Trap 3.0: a 2-block wide by 2-block long section of floor that disappears when crossed.
