What’s New in Preps 8?
Before diving in, note that Preps 8 introduced:
- Native 64-bit support (faster processing of large files)
- Improved PDF pass-through (preserves transparency and complex graphics)
- Enhanced JDF integration (seamless connection with Prinergy and other MIS systems)
- Modernized UI with dockable panes and dark mode option
Phase 2: Adding Content (Run List)
You cannot impose without pages. In Preps 8, you manage content in the Run List window. Getting Started with Kodak Preps 8: A Practical
- Locate the Run List pane (usually on the left side).
- Click the Add Pages button (the "+" icon or right-click > Add Files).
- Browse to your print-ready PDFs.
- Important: If your PDFs are single pages, select them all. Preps will list them in the order selected.
- Drag your files into the main window. You will see a list of "Placeholders" (e.g., Page 1, Page 2) waiting to be positioned.
Troubleshooting Tips
Problem: Pages appear out of order on the printed sheet.
Solution: Check View > Show Page Numbers. Then verify the binding style (left-to-right vs. right-to-left).
Problem: Creep looks wrong in the preview.
Solution: Preps 8 only simulates creep visually. Always run a paper test on your actual stock. Common Workflows in Preps 8 | Job Type
