Since Minhajul Qowim is not translated in the original PDF, you need at least intermediate Arabic. Focus on understanding isim, fi'il, harf and common fiqh vocabulary.
In Indonesian pesantren and Malaysian pondok schools, Minhajul Qowim is a standard curriculum text for intermediate students (usually Wustho level). Many religious teachers (kiai or ustaz) rely on it to explain the finer points of worship. Informative Text: Kitab Minhajul Qowim (PDF) Title: Kitab
The author of Minhajul Qowim is the renowned Shaykh Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Ahmad al-Bajuri (1784–1860 CE). He was a prominent Egyptian scholar who served as the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University—the highest religious authority in the Sunni world at that time.
Al-Bajuri was a prolific writer and commentator. His works span theology (aqidah), logic (mantiq), and jurisprudence (fiqh). He is known for defending the Ash'ari creed and the Shafi'i school against criticism. Because of his high scholarly rank, his commentary—Minhajul Qowim—became one of the essential intermediate texts for Shafi'i students worldwide. Self-studying fiqh is dangerous without guidance. Follow this principle in Shafi'i school: “Al-fiqh yu’khadz min afwah al-rijal” (Fiqh is taken from the mouths of men [scholars]). Use your PDF alongside recorded lessons on YouTube or study circles (halaqah).
