Method 2: Manually Delete the SolidWorks License Cache Files

If SolidWorks Rx is not available or fails, perform a manual cleanup.

Steps:

  1. Ensure SolidWorks and all related processes (e.g., swactwiz.exe, SLDWorks.exe) are closed. Use Task Manager to kill any remaining processes.
  2. Open File Explorer and enable "Hidden items" (View → Hidden items).
  3. Navigate to the following folders and delete all contents (not the folders themselves):
    • C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet – Look for files named SW_D_*.data or swdata.lic.
    • C:\ProgramData\SolidWorks\SOLIDWORKS 2020\licenses – Delete everything inside.
    • C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\SolidWorks\ – Delete any .lic or .swact files.
  4. Open Registry Editor (type regedit in Windows search, run as administrator).
  5. Navigate to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\Licenses
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolidWorks\Licenses
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FLEXlm License Manager

  6. Restart your PC.
