For macOS (High Sierra / Mojave)

Note: If you are running macOS Catalina or newer, MATLAB 2018b is not supported. Use a virtual machine (VMware Fusion/VirtualBox) with Mojave installed.

  1. Double-click the downloaded R2018b_maci64.dmg or mount the ISO.
  2. Double-click InstallForMacOSX.app.
    • If macOS blocks it: Right-click the app → Open (bypasses Gatekeeper).
  3. Enter your administrator password.
  4. The same MathWorks login and product selection screen appears (see Windows steps #3–6).
  5. Destination Folder: /Applications/Polyspace/R2018b is default (yes, they put it in a Polyspace folder for legacy reasons).
  6. During installation, you may see a prompt to install Xcode Command Line Tools – click Install (required for some MEX functions).
  7. After installation, you will find MATLAB_R2018b.app in your Applications folder. Drag it to the Dock for easy access.
