Why Did Resurgence Fail to Capture the Original’s Magic?

1. No Will Smith – His absence left a vacuum of charisma.
2. Overstuffed Plot – Too many characters, subplots (orbital debris, moon base, Africa artifact), and setup for sequels.
3. Tonal Inconsistency – Swings between dark trauma (Whitmore’s visions) and campy one-liners.
4. Lack of Iconic Moments – The first film had the White House explosion and the “Today we celebrate…” speech. Resurgence has nothing comparable.
