Step 2: Flashing TWRP Recovery

Because this is a Spreadtrum device, we cannot flash recovery via fastboot (it often corrupts the partition table). Instead, use the SPD Research Tool.

Open ResearchDownload.exe as Administrator.
Load the Scatter File (included in the TWRP folder).
Select "Download only". Uncheck all partitions except RECOVERY.
Navigate to your twrp_3.2.3_t1u71.img and assign it to the Recovery path.
Power off the tablet completely. Hold Volume Down and plug in the USB cable.
ResearchDownload will detect the device (COM port appears). Click "Start Download".
Wait for "Download Complete". Disconnect. Hold Volume Up + Power to boot into TWRP.

Step 1: Unlocking the Bootloader

Huawei no longer provides unlock codes for this device. We use a backdoor.

Enable Developer Options (Tap Build Number 7 times).
Enable "OEM Unlock" and "USB Debugging".
Connect to PC. Open Terminal (CMD) and run: adb reboot bootloader
You will see a black screen with "=> FASTBOOT". Run: fastboot oem unlock 1234567890123456 (Use 16 random digits; the bootloader doesn't actually check the code on this old Spreadtrum).
The tablet will factory reset. Bootloader is now unlocked.

Enabling Swap (ZRAM)

The T1-701u has 1GB RAM, but Android uses 300MB. Enable ZRAM to compress memory.

Install Kernel Adiutor.
Go to Virtual Memory → Set ZRAM to 512MB.
Set Swappiness to 60.
