Reassembly Tips
Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly, but here are key pointers:
- Screw organization: Use a labeled diagram or your phone photos. The HP ProBook 450 G0 uses screws of different lengths – mixing them up can crack the top cover.
- Keyboard cable: Ensure the ZIF connector is fully locked and the cable is inserted straight.
- Test before full assembly: Connect the battery, keyboard, and display to power on briefly before screwing the top cover.
- Thermal paste curing: After reassembly, run a stress test for 15–20 minutes to let the paste settle.
- Driver check: After upgrading RAM or SSD, enter BIOS (F10 on boot) to verify detection.
Removing the Hard Drive:
- The hard drive is housed in a metal caddy with a black plastic pull tab.
- Gently pull the tab toward the side of the laptop to unseat the drive from the SATA connector.
- Lift the drive out.
- If replacing, remove the four small screws from the sides of the caddy to free the drive.
Pre-Disassembly Safety & Preparation
- Power down completely – Shut down the OS, then hold the power button for 10 seconds to drain residual charge.
- Unplug all peripherals – USB drives, Ethernet, external monitors.
- Work on a clean, static-free surface – Avoid carpets and wool clothing.
- Photograph each step with your phone – this will help during reassembly.
