Hipcam Default — Login

I have provided two formats: a Technical Support Article (suitable for a website or internal knowledge base) and a Direct Email Response (suitable for answering a specific user query).

4. Use a VLAN or Guest Network

Most home routers support a “Guest Wi-Fi” network. Connect your Hipcam camera to the Guest network. This isolates the camera from your PC and phone if it gets hacked.

Why is this a problem?

You might think, “My camera is inside my house, behind my WiFi. No one can reach it.”

Wrong.

Most Hipcam devices use P2P (Peer-to-Peer) technology or UPnP. This means the camera actively opens a tunnel to the internet so you can watch it from your phone. Unfortunately, botnets (like Mirai) constantly scan the internet for exactly these default logins.

If you leave admin / 123456 active:

  1. Strangers watch your feed: Your living room, backyard, or nursery becomes a public webcam.
  2. Botnet recruitment: Hackers add your camera to a network used to take down websites (DDoS attacks).
  3. Network access: If your camera is on the same WiFi as your laptop, a hacker can “jump” from the camera to your computer.

How to Change Your Password

Once you have logged in, securing the device should be your first priority: hipcam default login

  1. Navigate to the System or Settings tab in the web interface.
  2. Look for a section labeled Account, User Management, or Security.
  3. Select the admin account and choose Modify Password.
  4. Enter the old password (e.g., admin) and your new, strong password.
  5. Pro Tip: Use a password that combines letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid simple sequences like "123456".

How to change the Hipcam default password

Don’t panic. Fixing this takes 90 seconds.

Method 1: Using the Hipcam App (iOS/Android)

  1. Open the Hipcam app and log in using the default admin / 123456.
  2. Tap the Gear icon (Settings) for your camera.
  3. Look for “Device Settings” or “Account Management.”
  4. Select “Change Password.”
  5. Enter 123456 as the Old Password.
  6. Create a Strong New Password (mix of letters, numbers, and symbols).

Method 2: Using a Web Browser (IP Address) I have provided two formats: a Technical Support

  1. Find your camera’s IP address (check your router’s device list).
  2. Type that IP into a web browser (e.g., http://192.168.1.105).
  3. Log in with admin / 123456.
  4. Go to System > User or Maintenance.
  5. Modify the admin password immediately.

Via Web Browser (Internet Explorer Mode)

  1. Log in using the default credentials.
  2. Navigate to “Settings” (gear icon) → “System”“User” or “Account.”
  3. Click on the “Admin” user.
  4. Click “Modify” or “Change Password.”
  5. Enter the Old Password: 123456 (or blank).
  6. Enter a New Password: (See Part 8 for strong password rules).
  7. Confirm the new password.
  8. Click “Save” and reboot the camera.

Q: I forgot my password after changing it. Is there a backdoor?

A: No legitimate backdoor exists. You must perform a hard factory reset using the physical reset button. Warning: There are internet rumors about a “hidden root” password, but these are generally false or malware traps.

Part 5: Troubleshooting “Login Failed”

It is frustrating when the Hipcam default login does not work. Here are the most common reasons and fixes.

7. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (If Supported)

Newer Hipcam models and their cloud service support 2FA. Link your mobile number or authenticator app to the admin account. Strangers watch your feed: Your living room, backyard,
