1. Where to Download Fritzing for Mac
The official and safest source is the Fritzing website:
- Go to fritzing.org/download
- Look for the Mac version – typically available as a
.dmg or .zip file.
- As of 2025, the latest stable version supports macOS 11 (Big Sur) and newer, including Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) and Intel-based Macs.
Note: Fritzing is no longer free as it was in its early days. You’ll be asked to pay a small fee (usually around €8) or name your own price. This helps fund ongoing development. fritzing download mac

- Rosetta Mode: Fritzing is currently built for Intel architecture. However, it runs perfectly on Apple Silicon Macs using Apple's Rosetta 2 translation layer. When you first open the app, macOS may prompt you to install Rosetta if you haven't already. Once installed, Fritzing should run smoothly without noticeable lag.
Option B: GitHub (The Free Open-Source Route)
Fritzing is open-source software. If you prefer not to pay a donation fee, you can download the source code or pre-built binaries directly from their GitHub repository. Go to fritzing
- Go to the Fritzing GitHub Releases page.
- Look for the latest release version.
- Scroll down to the "Assets" section.
- Download the file ending in
.dmg (e.g., Fritzing-0.9.10.dmg).
Step 2: Installing Fritzing on macOS
Once the .dmg file is downloaded, the installation process is straightforward, but macOS requires a specific step to verify the software.
- Open the DMG: Locate the downloaded
.dmg file in your "Downloads" folder and double-click to open it.
- Drag and Drop: A window will appear showing the Fritzing app icon and a shortcut to your "Applications" folder. Drag the Fritzing icon into the Applications folder shortcut.
- Eject the Disk Image: Once the copying is complete, you can "eject" the Fritzing disk image from your desktop or Finder sidebar.
