Title: [Mod Review] Why the 200 km/h Speed Mod completely changes the game for the better
We’ve all been there. You’re cruising down the highway in your fully upgraded Scania, the engine is purring, but your speedometer is capped at that dreaded 90 km/h limit. It kills the immersion, especially when the AI traffic is flowing faster than you, or when you have a deadline that is mathematically impossible to meet on vanilla settings.
After testing out the popular 200 km/h Speed Mod, I am convinced this is the single best quality-of-life improvement you can add to ETS2. Here is why it makes the game "better," not just faster.
Best mods or combos (examples)
- High-speed mod (200 km/h) — core speed increase.
- Improved handling mod — better stability at high speeds.
- Traffic AI fix — reduces collisions when player speed is much higher than AI.
- Visual/LOD improvements — prevent pop-in when traveling faster.
1. Realistic Truck Physics Mod (by Frkn64)
While not exclusively a speed mod, this is the gold standard. It modifies suspension, cabin movement, and brakes. When paired with a limiter remover, it allows stable driving up to 220 km/h. The steering becomes heavier, preventing the "mouse twitch" death wobble.
2. 200 km/h Engine & Transmission Pack (Various authors)
These mods replace factory gearboxes with custom ratios tuned for high speed. Look for packs that include:
- 7 or 8-speed direct-drive gearboxes (overdrive ratios for low RPM at top speed).
- 1500-2000 Nm torque engines – enough power to overcome drag without being uncontrollable.
