Part 9: Expanding Your EmuELEC H6 Experience
Emulator and performance tips
- Use RetroArch cores where possible — they’re well-supported and configurable in EmuELEC.
- Start with default/core-recommended settings, then adjust:
- Video resolution: Lower frontend/driver resolution if performance lags.
- Frame throttling & VSync: Enable to avoid audio loops or tearing.
- CPU governor: Set to performance if thermals allow; add cooling to prevent throttling.
- Shader usage: Avoid heavy shaders; use simple smoothing only when needed.
- For PlayStation 1: Beetle PSX (Mednafen) and PCSX-ReARMed ports generally perform well.
- For Dreamcast/PSP/GameCube: expect mixed results; lighter games may be fine, but many titles will be slow.
