How to Make a “Patched” Trainer Work Today

Assuming you’ve obtained a v2.700 trainer that claims to be patched but still crashes, follow this troubleshooting guide:

Step 5: Disable Antivirus (Temporarily)

Modern antivirus (including Windows Defender) flags all trainers as “RiskWare” or “HackTool.” Add an exclusion folder or disable real-time protection while playing.

Safety and Ethics

While trainers are excellent for single-player fun or testing custom maps, they are strictly prohibited in multiplayer environments. Company of Heroes utilizes Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) and Relic Online systems. Using a trainer in a ranked match will almost certainly result in a permanent ban from the servers and a revocation of CD keys.

Step 3: Set Compatibility Mode

Right-click the trainer .exe → Properties → Compatibility.
Set to Windows 7 and check Disable fullscreen optimizations.
