Important Note: CBE primarily uses two types of email systems:

  1. Internal Employee Email (Microsoft Exchange / Outlook) – Used by bank staff on the corporate network.
  2. Student/Applicant Email (for CBE’s Microfinance or Training programs) – Less common; typically a Gmail or custom domain.

This guide focuses on the CBE Employee Email Login (the most common search intent for "cbe mail login").


"Your account is expired"

  • This happens if your password hasn't been changed within the required timeframe (e.g., every 90 days).
  • If you cannot log in to change it, you must contact the IT Service Desk to reset it.

For IMAP/POP3 Configuration (Legacy Systems)

If your CBE IT department uses older protocols: cbe mail login

  • Incoming Mail Server (IMAP): mail.cbe.com (Port 993, SSL/TLS)
  • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.cbe.com (Port 465 or 587, SSL/TLS)
  • Username: Full email address
  • Password: Your CBE Mail password

2. CBE Login for Calgary Board of Education

For students and staff in the Calgary, Alberta public school system, email is handled via Google Workspace (Gmail).

  • What you need: Your CBE ID (usually your student number) and your school network password.
  • Login Steps:
    1. Visit gmail.com or the CBE staff/student portal.
    2. Enter your email address in the format: [studentnumber]@educbe.ca (students) or your assigned staff email.
    3. You will be redirected to the CBE Single Sign-On (SSO) page.
    4. Enter your Username (Student ID) and Password.
    5. Click "Log In".

4. First-Time Login & Password Setup

If this is your first time logging in with a temporary password provided by HR or IT, you will be forced to change it immediately. Important Note: CBE primarily uses two types of

  1. Enter your temporary password.
  2. A new screen will appear prompting: "Update your password."
  3. Current Password: Enter the temporary password again.
  4. New Password: Create a strong password.
    • Requirement: Must usually be at least 8 characters, containing uppercase, lowercase, a number, and a special character (!@#$).
  5. Confirm Password: Retype the new password.
  6. Click Save or Submit.

Note: Once changed, you will be logged out and must log back in with the new password.


Step 3: Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

CBE enforces MFA for all email logins, especially from outside the bank’s physical network. Internal Employee Email (Microsoft Exchange / Outlook) –

  • You will be prompted to verify via:
    • Microsoft Authenticator app (one-time code or push notification)
    • SMS to your registered phone number
    • Phone call

Step 3: Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Modern CBE mail systems require MFA. After entering your password, you may be prompted to:

  • Enter a code sent via SMS to your registered phone.
  • Approve a login request through an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator).
  • Answer a security question.

"The user name or password is incorrect"

  • Check Caps Lock: Ensure your caps lock is not on.
  • Keyboard Layout: Make sure you are typing in the correct language script.
  • Account Lockout: If you enter the wrong password 3-5 times, the system will lock your account for security. You must contact the IT Helpdesk to unlock it.
