8. Behind the Scenes – “New” Additions

When the studio announced “hard‑AVI added new” in their June 2024 update, they were referring to two major enhancements:

  1. Dynamic Lighting System

    • Integrated real‑time ray‑tracing via NVIDIA RTX during the final compositing pass. This gave the neon signage and icy reflections a tangible depth that static renders could not achieve.

  2. Procedural AI‑Generated Backgrounds

    • A custom GAN (Generative Adversarial Network) trained on archival Siberian landscape photos generated billions of unique background tiles. This ensured that each frame’s background was never a simple repeat, adding organic variation to the city’s sprawling vistas.

Both upgrades were documented in a making‑of vlog released in August 2024, showing the team’s workflow and the technical challenges they overcame.

Backend workflow

  1. Receive file via multipart upload (support chunking/resumable).
  2. Store original in cold/secure storage; create DB record with status=uploaded.
  3. Validate file (container/codec/duration), extract metadata.
  4. Queue transcoding jobs; update status to transcoding.
  5. On success, store outputs, generate thumbnail & preview, set status=ready.
  6. On failure, set status=failed and notify uploader with error.
